Update: response to open letter to the European Comission
DG CNECT Director Rita Wezenbeek and DG COMP Director Alberto Bacchiega responded to the letter we signed with 35+ public interest groups, urging European Commission president Von der Leyen and her colleagues to resist political pressure from Big Tech companies and prioritise the decisive enforcement of Europe's tech laws. The Digital Services Act, Digital Markets Act, and EU antitrust rules are crucial for protecting our democracy and our economy.
In the letter, the Commission reiterates its commitment to the “effective implementation of the DMA and enforcement of EU competition law”. The Commission also confirms that it "will not hesitate to use the tools at its disposal under the DMA where this would prove necessary.”
