Our latest edition of The Counterbalance looks at the rich and troubling history of “intellectual property” protections, and how the current system is in effect a way for dominant firms to use their power to levy private taxes on the rest of us, on four different levels.

It also notes that a long-term shift is now underway, which has the potential to unblock a logjam that has kept an ossified and damaging system in place for decades.
