The Digital Markets Act: Europe's Digital Competitiveness at Stake: joint letter

The Digital Markets Act  was a landmark achievement for Europe, aimed at ensuring fair competition and fostering innovation in the digital economy. However, over nine months after its implementation deadline, some gatekeepers continue to evade compliance, stifling the growth of European businesses, including SMEs and startups.

The Balanced Economy Project have signed a joint letter with a diverse group (global businesses, developers, civil society organisations, consumer organisations and associations from various sectors including music streaming, gaming, news publishers, online dating, tourism, broadcast media and online marketplaces) urging the European Commission to take decisive action. Enforcing the DMA is crucial for Europe’s digital competitiveness. The Commission must use all tools available to conclude ongoing investigations and hold non-compliant companies accountable. Now is the time to stand up for fair digital markets, where businesses of all sizes can thrive, and consumers have real choices.
